Project Quality Control

Scope

Team should be very involved with the creation of the "Defined Scope". The team is responsible for flagging items that become out of scope and need to be reined in.

Phase 2 - Design

QC1 - Developer

Developer needs to review functionality and flag/discuss any design pieces that could be built more efficiently if designed differently.

Phase 3 - Development

QC2 - Designer

Designer needs to review site and compare to the design comps. Make a list of revisions for developer to make.

QC3 - Developer

Developer and an additional developer reviews site for critical errors, issues, and following items. Site should be near pixel perfect to design comp, unless discussions with designer determined different action.

Record all notes and submit back to developer to make revisions.

Site is in good compliance with comps. Carefully check the following:
- Fonts
- Margins/Padding
- Colors
Search results template is setup and fits site styles
404 template is setup and fits site styles
Site is responsive
Mobile UX is thoughtful and user friendly
Test Design Styles page (website.com/test-design-styles) is in line with the style guide
Favicon & device icons exist (If not designer needs to provide, 700x700px)
Print styles exist
Images have been optimized
All watermarked stock imagery has been replaced with approved and purchased imagery
Browser Testing (3 most recent versions of each major browser). Squash all cross-browser issues.

Page speed is optimized
- Pingdom Website Speed Test
- GTmetrix
Squash any PHP errors, warnings, and notices
Efficiently deal with as many PHP notices as possible
Provide general notes on user experience and things that look to be errors

QC4 - Copywriter & Content Coach

Content Coach and Copywriter should run over site checking for missing content, assets, and grammar and spelling errors.

Phase 4 - Launch

QC5 "Launch Prep" - Developer

Developer needs to review functionality and flag/discuss any design pieces that could be built more efficiently if designed differently.

Enqueue minified css/js. Dequeue scripts.all.js and enqueue scripts.min.js (scripts.php lines 18-21)
Remove any non-essential themes and plugins
Update "infomedia" user email to "host@infomedia.com
Forms submit correctly and are routing to the correct email addresses (clients)
Site admin email has been updated to the client's email
Cleanup Typekit
- Remove all fonts and font weights not in use by sites
- Convert kit to Dynamic Subsetting (this has to be done for each font in the kit)
Connect all social media accounts
Update WordPress & Plugins
Remove all "Lorem Ipsum"
Commit all code to Bitbucket Repo
Add spam blocker plugin (Akismet)
Run link checker (Mac: Integrity) and repair any broken links
Setup 301 Redirects
- All top level level nav items (mandatory)
- If directed, create 301 redirects for any other pages and posts
Setup Google Analytics
Setup Webmaster Tools and XML Sitemap
Verify that robots.txt isn't blocking search engines
Verify that "Developed by Infomedia" is in the footer of the site.
Turn on site caching

- Dynamic Caching

QC6 - Support

Support personnel should review following items and setup task for developer to complete any missing items.

Verify Analytics is setup
Verify SSL Certicficate has been installed
Verify Infonet domain entry has been updated
Verify that Webmaster Tools is setup and XML sitemap has been created & submitted
Verify that site backups are running (at least 1 day after site launch)
Verify that "Developed by Infomedia" is in the footer of the site.
Take screenshots of all major pages for our records, place in Google Drive
Move Google Drive folder to "Projects - Complete"
